Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode (DM) es un grop britanic anglofòn de musica electronica e de rock aparentat new wave, originari de la ciutat de Basildon dins Essex (Anglatèrra). Format en 1980, deven lèu-lèu un grop màger de l'empont new wave international. Son nom es tirat del magazine francés Dépêche Mode.

Descobèrt per l'agent del grop new wave anglés Soft Cell abans d'èstre menat per Daniel Miller que lor fa signar sus son label Mute Records en 1981, DM a un primièr succès capvath Euròpa a l'autona d'aquesta meteissa annada ambe Just Can't Get Enough, puèi un pauc mai tard aus Estats Units ambe lo 45 torns People Are People de cap 1984-1985.

Lo succès de la musica de Depeche Mode dins lor estili new wave qualificat de còps a l'epòca de musica industriala (eredèra de la del grop alemand Kraftwerk) es permanent dincas a l'annada de 1990 ambe l'album Violator que conteng los dos títols emblematics del grop, Personal Jesus e Enjoy the Silence. Es precisament ambe Personal Jesus en 1989 que Depeche Mode comença de se sarrar del rock (I Feel You, Useless) en s'aluenhant musicalement de la pura synthpop de la debuta (Just Can't Get Enough, Master and Servant, Shake the Disease, A Question of Time, Never Let Me Down Again, Behind the Wheel).

Las annadas 1990 son negras per Depeche Mode pr'amor de chepics, d'una part la consomacion de dròga e en seguida la temptativa de suicidi del cantaire, Dave Gahan, que se n'es despopat en 1996, d'autra part per la partença de Alan Wilder en 1995. DM, alavetz redusit a tres sòcis, contunha pr'aquò de sortir disques (Ultra en 1997, Exciter en 2001, Playing the Angel en 2005, Sounds of the Universe en 2009, Delta Machine en 2013, Spirit en 2017 e Memento Mori en 2023).

L'annada de 2022 es marcada per la mòrt de Andrew Fletcher, çò que fa que del grop Depeche Mode original de 1980 demòra pas que lo duò Martin L. Gore e Dave Gahan.

Las cançons de DM son mai que mai compausadas per Martin L. Gore, a part las del primièr album de 1981, Speak and Spell, vist que l'èran per Vince Clarke. Pr'aquò Vince Clarke participèt pas qu'a n-aqueste primièr album, pr'amor que quitèt còp-sèc Depeche Mode per far d'autres projèctes new wave, Yazoo de'n primièr, puèi Erasure en 1985.

Segon lor maison de disc Mute Records, en 2008 DM compta 75 milions d'albums venduts dins lo Monde entièr, mai de 100 millions de disques en tot ambe los singles.

En novembre de 2020, son intronisats al Rock and Roll Hall of Fame^[1].
